Thursday, June 22, 2006 A Day In Paradise!
So basically, Lynn, Diana (DiDi), Vanessa and yours truly squeezed ourselves into one! Initially, DiDi screamed when I nudged her to the direction of the skyride (Yeah, she's afraid of heights! HAHA!). But eventually, she conquered her fear and hopped onto the skylift with glee. Not to mention, the skylift ascends to reasonably great heights, so its not for the faint-hearted! But oh well, it was really worth the cash because we get to take the rides twice! Both the luge and the skyride! The scenery was breathtaking as we soared higher and it felt marvelous!! It felt like we were on a plane without windows. The summer breeze brushing against our delicate faces, the craziness we had, just lovin' it! And about the luge, the queues were really long but it was worth the wait! And it was so fun! It felt like racing and I'll have to say twice is just NOT ENOUGH! Diva Mama Diana, Voodoo Lynnie and I! As Lynn calls us, "The younger triangle of the finance department!" Great people and we always have lotsa fun together! LIEBE THEM!
So one by one, they started leaving and there left us 3, Roger, Van and who else! We had fun at the beach and finished off the day dining at Sakae Harbourfront. Honestly, we had a great time... we talked so much! I really enjoyed myself and if not for Ngee Ann, I wouldn't be meeting fantastic people like these, so THANK YOU NGEE ANN!!! freed his mind P.Y.R.A - U.G.I.N.E at 7:38 PM [comment] Life is beautiful, so are you. (0) comments Saturday, June 17, 2006 Yesterday was my GOOD FRIDAY! . As I am typing this post, I am enjoying the warmth of my room, which seemed to be entrancingly enameled by the pouring sun rays. I love the sky. It looks bewitched. Whether I'm down or not, the blue skies always remind me to look up. I wish, one day, I could touch the clouds.Yesterday, work was really slacky cos' both our bosses were ABSENT! That feeling of having no "government" was magnificent. We could do what we wanted except getting pestered by the auditors for accounting documents. Other than that, we had a great time lunching in the ever-cosy I-SPACE (it's a really cool room equipped with the Hi-Fi and exquisite decorations). It's the best place to steal a catnap right after lunch, but once, Lynn and I got "caught" while having our little conversation in there. It's a "danger" zone if you are alone with either a guy or a gal, depending on which category you belong to, but you know what the people might think if they were to walk in, only to witness a male and a female exchanging thoughts in an unlighted space...but there wasn't any motives. So yeah, Lynn and I decided NOT to visit that space alone anymore to prevent any gossips fluttering around. Last night, I met up with some of my classies and by coincidence, we were all donned in BLACK! That's where the unity existed, but of course, not just this. We dined at Coffee Club next to CA. Fitness and the ambiance was sprightly, as all were eyeing on the plasmas which rose above the ground. Argentina really blasted the field. It's really cool to chill out with the fellows, and since its the World Cup season now, it's even better! Watching football alone at home is really boring, as you can only cheer with the spectators in the TV, which is rather dumb. Teresa and I received our birthday pressies and its a $100 Isetan vouchers, each. DANKE DANKE DANKE to those who have contributed. Greatly appreciate that. Thank You All!!! So Yahui, Teresa and I proceeded to Bugis Street for some midnight shopping while the others went home, as usual. Yahui bought herself a pearl necklace and a blue floral skirt and I got myself a watch! There's a really retro feel and it's only $29.90! I love it!! The thrill is to shop for great deals, even in overseas, but don't you think it just spoils everything if all you buy are expensive stuff. I'd be sure to return that place for more shopping as they sell really good stuff and everything is just so reasonable. And I'm trying to see how I'm gonna spend the gift vouchers, but I guess I'd need a top-up even with them. HAHAHAHA!!! freed his mind P.Y.R.A - U.G.I.N.E at 6:35 PM [comment] Life is beautiful, so are you. (0) comments Wednesday, June 14, 2006 Constant Drills Make Me Sick Oh my...Oh my...OH MY! Work today was plain boring! I've been trying to drill the accounts in our integrated accounting system almost the entire day, but to no avail. This system SUCKS! And I practically dozed off in the midst of the task. How great is that?? But I was drowsy since the moment I took my flu med. So the enzymes and some other chemical acids must have contributed to my fatigue. On regular basis, Lynn and I call this overtaxation the "PLS" = "Post-Lunch Syndrome". And PLS, consumes our bodies everyday...especially when you dread going back to work right after a hearty meal. Yesterday, I was meditating in front of my monitor when Diana barked "EUGENE!". Tell ya, that gave me a stroke! And Lynn instantly burst into laughter. THANK YOU LAI TAI TAI... ...NOT!!! This afternoon, I was about to take a catnap when the alarm sprang to life at ear-splitting levels. IT'S A FIRE DRILL!!! Can you believe it? Like at 4.30PM?? That's an hour before knocking off! So the occupants in the entire Treasury were forced to evacuate the fire-free building. Before that, one of my colleagues, Poh Choo, screamed "Quick! Empty your bladders before running away!" and then sped off to the ladies. HAHAHA!!! That was really hysterical. However, everyone seemed to take their own sweet time. Thankfully, we were located on the 4th storey, which barred us from complaining about descending stairs. I was wondering how the children from the 11th storey child-care was going to make it if a fire really broke out. But Poh Choo mentioned about her experience of evacuating her previous office, which was at the 49th storey of some anonymous building. That's CRAZY! Obviously, we made it to ground level and out of the building, only to witness a fire engine parked near the entrance. No worries, it's a drill afterall! Gary then pointed out that even if there was a fire, the fire station is just across the street. How close is that! We assembled at the grassland next to MICA (if you know where I'm talking about). Don't be silly, you don't believe we lined up, do you? The passers-by must be puzzled to see hundreds of working people scattered all over the usually-deserted land. Yes, it's a great time waster! We could have finished our work and left on time. But when do we ever leave on the dot? Of course recently, Diana and I confabulated and agreed to flee as soon as our SAD takes off, so that we won't have to face our longwinded DD (Deputy.Dir). If you were in our shoes, you'd admit that she's very FAN! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR...... freed his mind P.Y.R.A - U.G.I.N.E at 7:45 PM [comment] Life is beautiful, so are you. (0) comments Monday, June 12, 2006 People HOLLA! I can't believe it's week 14 of internship and we've walked into mid 06! How fast is that, you tell me. In these recent months, I've met some of the most incredible people in my life. Each day, I go to work telling myself that upon seeing their faces, I'll be brightened up no matter what. Though I have to admit that the workplace is just like a battlefield. Everyone is fighting for a place to stand (of course small flies like US don't!) and space to breathe. I'll have to say I've learned to savour every moment spent at work, since people step in and out momentarily in every segment of our lives. No matter how, we are always dependent on people, regardless of how independent one claims to be. Step by step this road we take, we are bound to encounter obstacles. We need people. People are the ones who can shower us with love. With care. We learn from people. We regard some as role models. We grow through experience, with the company of people. The existence of people is the reason why this world has transformed into a beautiful place that everyone could reside in. Without people, the world we're witnessing now is not possible. People around us changes our lives, and somehow we change theirs. Oh well, people are amazing creatures. But do you agree that people who need people, are the luckiest people in the world? freed his mind P.Y.R.A - U.G.I.N.E at 10:30 PM [comment] Life is beautiful, so are you. (0) comments Sunday, June 04, 2006 Third Month Hey Y'all! Long time no see! Its been nearly a month since I tidied this space. Seemed long but it was merely a flash. Lotsa stuff happened at work, here and there, but no worries, none of them are negative. Haha. And YAY! Let's celebrate with me for the completion of 12 weeks of internship. Actually, I dread returning back to school. Of course I miss having my pals around with me, but classes are way too BORING! I can't stand the fact that I have another semester to clear before graduating. *Slumps* How I wish this was the finish line, right after the internship programme that is. And then charge myself right into Army, and then 2 years later, out of town. To those who think MTI is aka Holiday Inn, you thought wrong. I'm confident to say that I have as much to do as compared to you guys. Not to mention, MTI is like a training centre. Everyone comes and goes. It's only a matter of time before this place becomes a ghost town. But well, that's not gonna happen right? If it does, then the IR will go down as well, since MTI is the Ministry handling this project, or any other gigantic projects that are springing up on the island. And if people in Finance leave, work will automatically flow to Diana and myself. And to be honest, that's terrible. For gawd sake, I'm just an INTERN! But we ain't blaming no one for taking flight off this place. Though the incentives of working as a civil servant is admirable, one has to consider on having to take on the tedious work cycle. It just rotates all year round. Same old stuff that you're doing. The government will only favour scholars. So you can easily spot newcomers coming in anytime and taking the place of a SAD (Senior Assistant Director), which is basically 2 steps down the Division's Director (who earns 1/4 of the Minister's salary!). So why SAD so fast? Scholars they are. So they become SAD in no time once recruited. Sad right, for those who have to work so hard to reach to the top. Oh well, it's a plus and minus thing, depending on how you see it. I have to admit I love MTI, for its people ONLY. I know I've been repeating this for like umpteen times, but they are like ANGELS! So angelic that they are generously contributing me with a pair of graceful wings, allowing me to soar in this quest. Of course, I have to say I'm only that close to certain people, especially Diana and Lynn. Diana actually graduated from Ngee Ann Accountancy 4 years ago! And she knows Chai Fang. What a small world! Lynn is a jovial young lady, who is of the same age as me! And she's soon flying off to UK, University of Warwick to pursue her double degree in Biz and Law for 3 years, ALONE! How cool man!!! I simply love being around these 2 people, they are the ones whom I can share my personal thoughts with at work. But Lynn's leaving EOTM. I'll miss her quite alot, as I have one down to talk to, but Diana is leaving after me! Or sometime when I'm gone. SO YEAY! Alright, that's all for now, LUNCHING OUT! ADIOS!!! (Lynn taught me this!) Haha! freed his mind P.Y.R.A - U.G.I.N.E at 11:41 AM [comment] Life is beautiful, so are you. (0) comments |
