Taj Mahal: Do Not Touch if... ... unless .. ...

I wanna share with you an encounter that my friend JW's friend, let's just call him 'Santos', had while his family was on vacation in India, visiting the Taj Mahal.

Santos was taking in the magnificence of the garden before he advanced to a plant, merely touching the flower when a guard across shouted: "What are you doing don't touch it you dirty INDIAN!" Santos stayed rooted while his mother, who stood next to him raised to attention in utter shock. Santos is an Indian. The guard? Indian.

Santos' father, who was nearby, caught glimpse of the commotion and walked over, confronting the guard: "What do you mean by what you said? Do you know we came all the way from Singapore just to see this building?"
The guard: "Oh you're from Singapore? Oh please touch as you like!"

It's said that the people over there are racists to their own people. Funny isn't it?
