MUSIC'S BIGGEST NIGHT

Yeahhh! That's the Grammys we're talkin' about here! Well unfornately, I didn't get to watch the awards show LIVE on television nor did I get to watch the entire show during the encore last night. But from what I can see, and from what I read in the reviews by many Americans, this year's show seemed to be so much better than the last. Though there were some unexpected winners, but all in all, they deserved what they've gotten and the performances on this 49th were what's worth plastering yerselves onto yer couches thru' the 3-hour show and that's certainly what I yearned for but well, priority's awarded to EXAMS. Perhaps on the 50th then.

They were "not ready to make nice" but they've certainly made themselves the most glorious band/girl's group ever in Music's history. The Dixie Chicks walked away with 5 Grammys last night including Best Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Album of the Year, making themselves the BIGGEST winner of the night, and seriously, I really didn't know they could sing. The only song that's giving me sense of who Dixie Chicks were before was "Sin Wagon". But now, it's different. "OOOHH I'M NOT READY TO MAKE NICE... ...I'M NOT READYYY........"

And it's no doubt Christina Aguilera mustered all her strength as she paid tribute wholeheartedly to the late James Brown with "It's A Man's World". WHOW! I must say. She literally sang till she was on her knees. Effortless! LOVRE EEET! She also took home a Grammy for Best Pop Female Performance for "Ain't No Other Man".

Ms. Mary J. Blige received the best honours as the entire crowd stood to praise her performance of "Be Without You/Stay With Me", a soulful start which ended with a MIGHTY note and she was massively powered by an entire orchestra. At the end, Mary teared as the applause thundered the entire hall. HIGHLIGHT of the night! POWWWARR! She certainly took over the spot Mariah had last year and she's no doubt the true Queen of R&B. Move over Mimi.

I find that these few years have been really great years for some American Idol alums like Carrie Underwood (never forgetting Jennifer Hudson who's up for Oscars), who won 3 Grammys for Best New Artist, Best Female Country Vocal Performance for "Jesus, Take the Wheel" and another which I can't remember. Way to go, Carrie!

Other performers include the Dixie Chicks themselves, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Shakira, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, John Mayer, John Legend, Corinne Bailey Rae and some others. Beyonce sang "Listen" off Dreamgirls, but I must say from a vid I saw, lackluster performance at such a huge awards show. She started so low and ended so weirdly with melody twists which somehow made her go off-pitch. Justin Timberlake, blah. Shakira, OH HAWT! Really, her hips DON'T LIE!
