Glorified.

Yes. I've been a slacker when it comes to posting to this blog, partially because I'm noticeably busy with work, but mostly because I feel like I have nothing much to say other than how busy I am with work. So from now onwards, its gonna be a 2-weeks thing that I'm updating my blog. I'm down to 4 months before the attachment programme ends. My, how time flies! I'm enjoying my internship these days, which is a marked departure from my annoyance on those unsolved doubts about how I am to survive such interminable working lifestyle for 5 miserable months. But, TAH-DAH! It's not really that long afterall. I hope!

Alrighty, these 2 weeks passed incredibly fast. The people at MTI are downright neigbourly. I love how my colleagues and I can bring in the laughing tide, literally transforming the entire office to an insane asylum.
So last Tuesday, we had a major event, that is the MTI Firefly Symposium 2006 held at Suntec Convention Centre theatre. It was an annual event where agencies under MTI gather to witness and hear out on the latest updates on MTI's new vision and mission, including the inaugural launch of the spirit of striving forward together in a borderless environment. Ken, Jie Ying and yours truly were approached to perform a voice-over for the SuperNation Video which was shown to the 550 strong audiences. I was the narrator, plus some hysterical segments, and OH MY, it was absolutely amusing! Chin Heng, the AD for Enterprise Div took 2 days to collate every piece of info, combining and morphing them into one big fat truly entertaining short clip. In addition, there were panel discussions on issues about how MTI can shape Singapore's economy when it focuses on forging new growth frontiers. Most of the materials and contents are meant for internal consumption only, so there's nothing much I can speak of.

It was really an eye-opener as well as a delightfully admirable exposure as I have learnt from the event the eminent factors when it comes to working as a team, making the event a wholesomely successful one and striving forward together in a borderless environment. At the event, the business etiquette elements came to use and we took this opportunity to socialise with people from the many different agencies such as STB, JTC, EDB and VIPs such as the Second Minister for Trade and Industry, Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan. He's really down-to-earth and humorous.

Dr Vivian and US!

The symposium kept me alert on MTI's motives and its existing activities, allowing me to visualise the network linkages inside out. It was an experience I'd never erase from my mind. And because we all worked diligently hard for the event, Heather treated us to lunch on Wednesday. We went to this bar restaurant across Clarke Quay (forgotten its name). The food was scrumptious, but I was just too filled up with the hotcakes I previously had early in the morn.

BIG THANKS to Heather! Btw, Heather is not my supervisor, but the S.A.D for OCM, supervisor to Jie Ying and Ken. Her last day is supposedly to be the very last day of April, but she left service last Friday. We presented her with a couple of gifts, a workoholic cup and an adorable photo-hanger, with the faces of 3 narcissists. Yup, that's US! HAHA! We had so much fun posing for the NEOs. Bought 2 cakes also for Heather. Everyone gathered and showered her with wishes.

Rejoicing in I-SPACE!

Though she's not my supervisor, she is one person I look up to. Heather is a great mom, who is so capable. She taught me to not look down on oneself.
To Self-Market is what she claimed to be the imperative ingredient one needs to brush oneself with. Believe in your abilities and strive toward your goal. Never neglect your talent. Let the talent in you take charge.
